Given that the strong, universal sex urge is basically about reproduction, contraception seems to contravene our basic function: to breed like rabbits!

The biological urge to engage in sexual activity in natural and I agree that it is most probably there in order to increase the chances of reproduction.
But, as we have knowledge concerning the likelihood of conception, we are able to make decisions prior to the event.
I don't see anything dysfunctional about not breeding.
Just have the voice of Butt-Head in my ear going, "huh huh huh" after seeing that sign.
